Calgurio Heath ｢カリギュリオ・ヒース, karigyurio hīsu｣ was the commander of the Armored Division – the largest division in the Eastern Empire's military. After losing the war to Tempest and being revived, Calgurio became the minister of defense of the Empire under Masayuki's reign.
Appearance[]
A skinny man in his forties who wears an eyepatch over his left eye and has a thin mustache, and black hair slicked back. He wears the standard issued Imperial military uniform reserved for commanders or higher – a long black coat mixed with gold, and white gloves.
Personality[]
Although he can hold himself in a fight, he's more of a strategist. He's particular about his strategies and won't act unless victory is certain. At times his greed can get the better of him, making him gullible to manipulation, like Yuuki and Gadra's scheme to lure him into attacking the Dungeon. As the commander of the strongest divison, Calgurio holds great pride in his role and constantly seeks opportunities to prove his worth to the Emperor and advance even further. To that end he can be quite ambitious, sometimes too much to his own detriment.
After suffering a crushing defeat to Tempest's forces, he reflected on his foolish actions up to then and deeply regrets them. He feels guilty for all the lives under his command which were lost and couldn't be spared, and seeks to atone and pay back Rimuru's kindness by working hard to restore the Empire and establish friendly relations with Tempest. He's turned over a new leaf for the better.
Background[]
Originally a low-class noble, Calgurio took advantage of the Empire's strong policy on absolute meritocracy and worked his way up the military ladder through his own talent, accruing experience and eventually landing the spot of commander. He was entrusted with leading the Armored Corps.
Calgurio was born a commoner and married into the family of a baron as a knight. After his father-in-law passed away, he was betrayed by his then-wife and drugged, blinded in his left eye, and driven out. These events were the impetus that drove him to seek status.
Trivia[]
- Calgurio was one of several subjects expected by the Emperor to awaken during the Imperial Invasion, along with Minitz, Kanzis and Krishna.
